FROM FILM TO REALITY: TOP 5 MOMENTS IN NYC #5

Picture

NEW YORK CITY was only but a dream until we finally got the chance to meet. And yes, the jet lag was worth it! We all know how American pop culture demands not to be ignored with its ubiquitous buzz and electric energy. It’s no wonder how NYC is such a hit, even after all this time. The novelty of it being a frequently used film setting, its rich history, stunning cityscape, iconic landmarks, bustling streets, spectacular Broadway shows, pizzas and cheesecakes, are just some of the many strong reasons why people all over the world get drawn in the city.

So even if I hadn’t really done extensive research to build my travel itinerary prior to the trip, I knew I didn’t have to worry. I mean if New Yorkers don’t run out of things to do in New York, then what more a first time visitor right?

I went with the flow, followed some of the plans my friends had, mixed them up with some of mine, and TA-DA! I still can’t believe I’ve visited one of my dream cities, and I’m even more grateful that the hype of my expectations did not disappoint with what I experienced in reality.

Now, I’m sharing with you my personal Top 5 Moments in NYC starting at number 5!

#5 FROM FILM TO REALITY

For those of you who have been following my posts for quite some time now, you would know how much I’m a fan of film and visual arts, as well as traveling. I mean who isn’t right? So combine the two elements, and that’s the kind of fulfillment you get when you travel to visit iconic locations from your favorite movies and TV series. New York is probably one of the most overshot cities used as a backdrop for a variety of different film genres—from drama, comedy, action, romance, and some of my personal favorite flicks too! So getting to visit these sites definitely made it to the cut of this list! Here are some photos from our scene spotting escapades.

I’m sure you can identify which movies and shows featured these locations as their setting!

Yup, from classic, contemporary, animated, to internet streaming flicks such as
Friends, Gossip Girl, Younger, The Proposal, Kate and Leopold, X-Men, Serendipity, (All seven titles are on iFlix too! Follow my playlist there to see some of my personal faves!), King Kong,  Nine Lives, The Secret Life of Pets, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Spider Man, Ghostbusters, When Harry Met Sally, Annie, Home Alone, Sleepless in Seattle, The Nanny, Will and Grace, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, and so much more!
There are simply endless titles featuring NYC and it wasn’t at all difficult to see why.

From falling in love with the city through screens to completely immersing myself in it,
was a dream come true I’ll never forget!

Stay tuned for numbers 4,3, 2, and 1 on my list soon!

Love,

Janeena
