Hosting The First SM Beauty Ball and My Look of the Evening

Picture

Do what you love, and you won’t have to work a day in your life! I’ve been blessed to have known what I wanted to do since I was young… Actually there have always been many whats I wanted to do, until now. I grew up singing, performing, modeling, hosting, writing, producing, and the list goes on. And I have to say that being surrounded in an industry with so much things going on every single day can be pretty exciting!

A few weeks back, I had the privilege of witnessing and taking part of a monumental event in the lifestyle and beauty industry. It was the first ever Beauty Ball in the Philippines hosted by SM to celebrate and honor pioneers and makeover masters in the local beauty scene for all their local and global accomplishments. It was held at the Makati Shangrila Hotel, and I had the pleasure of hosting both the main event and the red carpet correspondence portion as artists together with their muses entered the event all glammed up and ready for the beautiful evening ahead! A-list celebrities together with their high profile make-up artists filled the area as the night progressed. Taking center stage were the country’s “Pioneers of Beauty,” Jake Galvez, Jesi Mendez, Fanny Serrano, Jigs Mayuga, James Cooper, Cristine Duque, Denise Ochoa, Mickey See, and Robbie Piñera. Some of their muses were also present to support them, such as Vice Ganda, Andi Eigenmann, Anne Curtis, Jodi Sta. Maria, Denise Laurel, Chesca Garcia Kramer, and Jolina Magdangal.

Awesome event! But imagine the pressure on me!? Haha

Coming into the event, I wasn’t so sure exactly who would attend, but I definitely knew it was a beauty ball so… I had to of course ask for the assistance of my Beauty God Mothers in life! A glam team can go a long way, in my case… I was thrilled to be transformed under the professional, and magical hands of Raf Mañosca of MAC Rockwell, and my tried and tested hair stylist… our house help, Ate Jessa! Yup, my Mom trained her so I won’t have to go to out and have my hair styled each and every time I have an event to host or attend (which is almost always!).It’s been a while since I had a full-on smokey make-up look and I was quite excited to be wearing one that night especially because of all the beautiful pigments and rich colors MAC houses.

So here’s the complete look!

Ahh! What a magician you are, Raf!! Contact lenses can really complete your look, especially with smokey eyes! It looks more polished and put together with the right kind of colored lenses! I chose to wear Sterling Grey by Air Optix Colors that night, and I absolutely loved how the entire look came to be. And yes, lashes by of course KIYOSA Japanese Total Beauty! Love how their lash extensions are so good, they can definitely replace the need for false lashes! Literally woke up with them, and I’m not complaining! Haha It saves you extra make-up time too!

Now for the ensemble! I didn’t exactly have enough time to pull-out a ball outfit from a designer or stylist, but one of my long-time and trusted clothing line sponsors, DETAILS, has so many beautiful ready-to-wear pieces that can go from smart casual to evening especially when you get creative in mixing and matching! Dress code that night was black and silver for me as a host. So how perfect was it that this gorgeous ball skirt was exactly black and silver? Paired it with a fitted off shoulder top. Good thing the texture of fabric can pass for evening wear and I must say, the total look worked that night!
Paired it with silver gem stone earrings from UNO DE 50, necklace from SILVERWORKS, heels from COMFIT, and my purse from DIOR.Here are some more photos of the evening…

Congratulations, and thank you once again SM Beauty and Saga events for having me as one of your hosts for the first ever SM Beauty Ball! Yes, a night like this is what work looks like for me. Make-up and hosting? Not a bad combo at all! And although you always have to think on your feet and look your best… I’m grateful to have been a part of this evening doing what I love to do, and surrounded by so many talented, beautiful, and inspiring people!

Cheers to all the pioneers and world class artists our country has produced, and thank you for making this world a more beautiful place to live in!Until the next!

Love,
Janeena
