Priscilla in Manila Gala Night

This would have to be one of the most colorful nights I’ve had. It was a night of classic 70’s-80’s dance music, retro fashion, and world-class talent, as Resorts World Manila delivers yet another musical spectacle!

Giant, festive headpieces and oversized disco balls greet you in their Plaza as they hung from the high ceiliing of Newport Mall where cocktails were served. The bigger, the better they say. Yes, I think so too.

Dear sister and I, munching on all the macarons we laid our eyes on!
She keeps a blog too by the way, and you can visit it here.
We caught the pre-show with their all-out performances! It’s like an appetizer of sorts before the main event. “Friday night and the lights are low…”
The 70’s-80’s dress code had me all excited to dress up… and so I did. Being in theme is always fun isn’t it? How do you like my #ootn? Thanks to these professional ‘queens,’ the party was everywhere… Everywhere they were at.
Giddy me right before the show!
For those who haven’t seen the 1994 Australian Film, and the stage adaptation of
Priscilla, Queen of the Dessert before… who is Priscilla anyway?

Spoiler alert!

It’s a BUS! A bus for when the 3 drag queens go on their little adventure. Just look at these actors! You’ll guess each character’s personality just by looking at their facial expressions. Amazing job, Leo Valdez, Red Concepcion, and Jon Santos
See what I mean by their LED backdrop screen? Amazing right? Plus their extravagant set design and costumes just make everything spectacular. Colors, pretty lights, special effects… my eyes were very happy.
Of course, my ears were pleased as well with an all-star cast performing some of the best disco songs of all time such as The Weather Girls’ It’s Raining Men, Abba’s Dancing Queen, Tina Turner’s What’s Love Got To Do With It, Dionne Warwick’s I Say a Little Prayer, Gloria Gaynor’s I Will Survive, and many more.
Get ready to dance in your seats from start to finish!
Told you it was a party… and of course it had to end with a standing ovation.

Nonetheless, it was well-deserved.
Congratulations on yet another grand showcase, Resorts World Manila! Your musicals never fail to make me leave with a huge smile and a happy heart.

Musicals are good for the soul, people… and this particular one will make you sing and dance along, laugh and just be moved.

Show runs until July 13 this year! Visit the official page here for more details.
Till next time!

P.S. Kylie Minogue fans like me will especially love one particular medley. Enjoy!
